Time for a cold one. I’m drinking a new German beer, myself. But I’d be intrigued to try an Old German Beer. And remember, beware of imitations!
Any big plans for the weekend? We have none. At all. Aside from trying to finish the closet cleaning project we started last week. I do plan on sleeping in, and watching the F1.
Y’all be safe.

Still got a full week off. I had plans to visit some more state parks and head to the other side of the state but it just feels weird to do that level of road trip right now.

I’m tied here until somebody finally answers me about a question, but then I have to log back on at 9pm to do a migration. Our key production software is being moved to a different server, but the license can only be moved by their support which, of course, is in Hungary and only there during the business day Saturday. That means the earliest I can get them on the job is 1am. So I’ll take the software server service down, backup the data, swap around VMs and hosts, restore the data to the new VM and then wait until they show up. Hopefully it all goes smoothly because I am certainly no night owl.

It’s probably about as safe as going to the grocery store. Get all your food from a drive through, and you’re probably fine. I’m itching to take a 3,000 mile road trip. That’s not happening this year, though.

Jeep is in the shop indefinitely so I’m bored bored bored. Got back a quote of nearly 5k to get a reman transmission; no way I’m spending that much on such a crappy design, so I have them looking at a Treme c for me. Worst case I’ll have them fix whatever else is wrong with the front end and just deal with the transmission for a while.

Good luck. In my personal experience, any computer process that should be easy never is. But I’m not a tech guy.

You’re lucky with the European start times. Races are stupid early here in the states. I always watch them on the ESPN replay.
Watching FP1 right now. Crofty just said that it’s been 5 years since we lost Jules Binachi. Hard to believe it was that long ago.

We rebuilt the trans in our 03 Odyssey a few years ago (3? 4?). I think it was about $3500. It was a bit of a tough call in an old vehicle, but I absolutely love that van, and there’s nothing I’d replace it with. Just cranked it up to 222k miles last weekend.

My mom absolutely loves her Odyssey. Needs a new timing belt before she loses the engine, though. Shame that’s such a weak spot.

I have a few of these and I think I’m going to go clean out the inside of my car a bit. I’ll save the outside cleaning for tomorrow. There is the first local cars and coffee on Sunday that I will probably swing by and do a quick run through. Masks are required but people are stupid so I’ll be keeping my distance from them.

We’ve literally been all over the country in ours. One of the things I really like about it is how big the back windows are. Not that I ever sit there, but nobody ever complains about not being able to see the sights.

Plans? No. Aspirations? Certainly. Tasks which must be done for work over the weekend? Definitely.
One of my database applications didn’t perform today and I have to figure out why. Then I have to update a field data collection estimate to take into account what data has been captured so that we have a better idea of the level of effort to collect the data we need in the areas where the field teams haven’t been yet. I was really hoping for a break from work this weekend, but that isn’t happening.
At least I had a chance to mow the lawn before it got dark.

Working all weekend, but didn’t stop me from sitting in a lawn chair last night with a cooler full of adult beverages watching passersby. I’ll be doing the same thing Saturday. Fishing Sunday. Going to try to rig up a portable stand to bring a TV out there for full redneck living

I used to smoke cigars regularly, and I could either sit on the front porch or the back. I always sat out front because it’s nice to watch the world go by.

Probably not a good habit to start. They’re expensive, too, but definitely enjoyable from time to time. My problem was that I was smoking two, sometimes three a day.

I used to rip backwoods coming home from a night out in college. I called them “victory cigars” for making it home in one piece.

Never had one of those, but I did smoke a lot of Swisher Sweets way back in the day. The ingredients list reads: “ This product is predominately tobacco with some non-tobacco ingredients added.” Like what, horsehair?
